Walking with Dinosaurs
Dinosaurs spotted in Sydney! As Sydney gets up and close and personal with the six metre tall Torosaurus in Walking with Dinosaurs Live Experience its a good time to have a look at the tv show that rekindled our fascination with these extinct lizards. Walking With Dinosaurs was orginally a BBC show which was imported into Australia via the obliging ABC. This ABC site provides extra information about Australian dinos, as well as fact files, and a dinosaur playground for the kiddies. Raaah! |

50 Albums That Changes Music
Seizing the occasion of the album chart's 50th birthday, a panel of seven fearless folk at the Guardian Online have served up a list of the 50 records that "caused a sea change in pop music". For each entry, they provide a "without this..." snapshot of what we'd be missing today if that particular work had never been recorded. It's sort of like revisionist history, Dick Clark-style (eg. "without James Brown's "Live at the Apollo," "great chunks of hip-hop...would be missing.") The list does everything you want a best-of compilation to do: Turn you on to some new artists, spark absolute outrage over other entries, and create an amusing seating chart along the way (there's Kraftwerk jostling elbows with NWA, and Robert Johnson looking on from the other side). |

Actors in Character
Some of the finest character actors in the English language gloat, fume, weep, and yowl in this entertaining photo-essay from TIME Magazine. Who knows how many takes each shot took, or how much warning each actor got, but one way or another each works up a thoroughly engaging expression for such Herculean portrayals as: "...an alcoholic who fell off the wagon at the company Christmas party, trying to remember if you offended anyone" (Jason Alexander), or "...a CPA at a strip joint" (Kelsey Grammer), or "...an L.A. girl gang member who has just been cut off on the 405 by a blonde in a Hummer on her cell phone" (Rosie Perez). |

Dogtoons
We want to let you in on a little secret: Not all podcasts and online videos suck. We have now watched all the episodes of "Nick and Haig" and "Doogtoons Asks a Ninja," and we can say that Doogtoons.com definitely does not suck, nor does the episodic animation of Doug Bresler. What about Doogtoons makes us howl? They're funny, that's all. |
